Conquering Addictions
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus
teaches us to be like light and salt, to be a good example for others in our
conduct and faith. We strive to follow this teaching because we are all
pursuing the heavenly kingdom. We want to be able to say, like Paul, that we
have fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
Our faith is reflected through our
daily lives, and not only through the moments we spend
at church or doing holy work. The smallest mistakes we make and bad habits that
we have keep us from being blameless children of God. The theme articles
encourage us to be worthy of our status by maintaining our spirituality. When
we are close to God, we will have discipline and self-control. The attractions
of the world will not hold us when we are filled with God’s word and spirit.
