Why did Jesus have to die for us?

Shedding blood has long been considered a way to atone for sins. This principle of atoning for our sins by shedding blood crosses cultural and racial boundaries. The Bible is in line with this principle, saying the following: “Without the shedding of blood there is no remission” (Heb 9:22). Jesus “loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood” (Rev 1:5). We have been “brought near in the blood of Christ” (Eph 2:13). We have been “justified by His blood” (Rom 5:9). “We have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus” (Heb 10:19). We overcome Satan by Jesus’ blood (Rev 12:11). Jesus, a sinless person, had to take the place of and die for every sinner in God’s eyes. In God’s eyes, we are all sinners, so God had to come as Jesus to die for everyone. It is the church that is covered by Jesus’ shed blood.
