H. Believing that the
Sabbath day (Saturday) is the holy blessed day of God and it is to be observed
under grace—remembering His creation and the promised redemption with the hope
of eternal rest in the age to come.
1.
Sabbath
Day is the holy blessed day of God.
a.
God created all things in six days and
rested on the seventh day (Saturday) (Gen 2:1-3).
b.
God blessed the seventh day and hallowed
it (Gen 2:3; Ex 20:8,
11).
c.
God
commanded the people to rest on the seventh day (Saturday) and specially
provided food for them (Ex -25).
d.
Those who observe the Sabbath will be
blessed by God (Is 58:13-14, 56:2).
e.
Those who do not observe the Sabbath will
meet with calamities (Jer
; Neh ,
18).
2.
To remember His creation and redemption under
grace.
a.
The Jews observe the Sabbath
under the laws.
(a)
Cannot kindle fire on this day (Ex 35:3).
(b)
Cannot do any form of work (Ex 31:15)
(c)
Those who profane it will be put to death (Ex
31:12-14; Num -36).
b.
The
Christian should observe the Sabbath u grace.
(a)
On the Sabbath day one can do divine work (Jn ;
Mt 12:5).
(b)
On the Sabbath day one can do good deeds (Mt ).
(c)
On the Sabbath day one can save
lives (Mk 3:4).
(d)
If the
circumstances do not allow a person observe the Sabbath, God will understand
that person's difficulties (Mt 12:1-4, 7-8).
(e)
One should observe the Sabbath with a delightful
heart (Is 58:13).
c.
To remember God's creation and redemption
(a)
Should have fellowship on this
day to remember the grace of God in creating all things us to enjoy (Ex
20:8-11; Mt ; Lev 23:3).
(b)
Should gather on this day to remember grace of
Christ in delivering us from eternal punishment (Deut ;
Jn 3:16; 2 Cor 5:14, 15, 21).
(c)
To hope for the eternal rest in the age come.

This life is full of toil and trouble (Ps 90:10).
·
What Christians hope for are the blessings! The age to come (2 Cor -18;
1 Cor ).
·
One should strive to enter the eternal rest in the heavenly
kingdom (Heb 4:9-11).
