Sing Praises to the Lord

Sing Praises to the Lord

It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High. (Ps 92:1)

Sing praises to the Lord. This is the kind of spirit that we need to cultivate. It does not matter whether we sing well or poorly, or how many people sing together. It is the heart of worship that God sees and values. We sing not for performance but for praise and thanksgiving to our great God. When we praise the Lord with joyful songs, our spirits are also uplifted.

A spirit of gratitude must be cultivated, then passed onto others, especially to those in our own household. We should look for blessings from God, being careful not to overlook the hidden, subtle, and indirect ones, or to take daily blessings for granted.

Gratitude to God and others should be expressed not only regularly but also publicly. Psalm 35:18 reads, “I will give You thanks in the great assembly; I will praise You among many people.”

A grateful spirit and thankful heart are an integral part of Christian life. A person who is thankful and has a heart full of praise brings joy to God and glory to His name. Witnessing is a demonstration of our thankful hearts. Gratitude will bring a host of blessings to our hearts and make us a channel of blessing to others.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord” (Col 3:16).

A grateful person is humble and focused on God, while the ungrateful is full of pride and focused on self. Gratitude begins by acknowledging who God is and what He has done. Let us count our blessings and give thanks to God. Let us sing praises to the Lord!

Question for Reflection:

We have received a bundle of blessings through God’s salvation. Are our lives channels of blessing to others?
