Word Study

“Christ,” translated from the Greek word Christos, which is “Messiah” in Hebrew, means the “Anointed One.” Jesus, the long-expected “King of the Jews,” was sometimes called “Christ” or “the Christ,” which was a title, a recognition that He was the Savior.

Did You Know?

The Day of Pentecost was also known as the “Feast of Weeks,” “First Fruits of the Wheat Harvest,” (Ex 23:16, 34:22), and the “Day of the First Fruits” (Num 28:26). It takes place fifty days after the Passover. It is a celebration in which the Israelites offer the first fruits of their harvest to God as a thanksgiving and expect Him to bless the rest of the harvest period (Lev 23:15-19; Num 28:26-29). The Holy Spirit was poured out upon the believers for the first time on the Day of Pentecost, as recorded in Acts chapter 2.
