Creation of Man and Woman

The creation of human beings takes center stage in the creation account. All of God’s other creative activities lead up to this climactic moment. Having prepared the planet Earth as a perfect place of habitation and created all the living creatures, God makes man last of all so that man may benefit from His marvelous creation.

It is clear from the record in Genesis that man is a special creature. Instead of using the impersonal command, "Let there be…" God said, "Let Us make man…." He involved Himself in declaring the intention to create human beings. In other words, God took particular interest in the creation of man. Not only so, God made man in His own image, both male and female. Whereas all other creatures were made after their own kind, human beings were made after the likeness of their Creator. Furthermore, God gave man dominion over the earth and all living things, setting him above all other creatures.

We are the noblest of God’s creation. He has endowed us with greater intelligence than all other creatures. We are the most loved and protected of all creation. God has also placed in us a heart to search for Him and know Him, for no other creature has the natural inclination to worship God the way human beings do. As the Scripture teaches,
He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being. (Acts 17:26-28)

Our purpose in life is not just to exist, but to seek after our Creator and build a personal relationship with Him. It is also our duty to live responsibly in the likeness of our Creator. It is in Him alone that we can know the reason for living. Have you come to know your Creator personally? Have you fulfilled the purpose for which He made you? Let us draw close to Him and live each day to carry out His will for us.

You are my Lord and Creator, and you have made me to be your child. Thank you for all the wonderful things you have provided in my life. I want to know you and do your will. Please enlighten me with your Word so I may live to honor and please you.
