God determines when events will occur according to His plan. Because God is Spirit and without limit, His time is different from our sense of time:

But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Pet 3:8-9)

What we see as a “delay” is merely the extension of God’s mercy. Every day brings us closer to the end and the Judgment Day. Instead of doubting, make the most of the opportunity to grow closer and more like Christ. Be prepared at all times to meet Him, knowing that any day may be the last.
