for the children of Judah (chapter 15).
1. The
coast for the children of Judah.
The east border was the end of Jordan.
The west border was to the great sea. The north was the centre of Canaan; that
is, neighboring Jebusite (Jerusalem).
The south was the river of Egypt.
2.
The cities for the children of Judah
(20-63). Total about 100 cities. Most of them were cities of fame in history.
a.
The characteristic of the land for the children
of Judah.
Greatest piece with the highest number of cities. A land truly flowing with
milk and honey (Num 13:21-27; Gen 26:12, 13; Deut 6:10-11, 8:7-9).

Reasons and promises of their receipt of the lands.
a.
The blessings for the first born (1 Chr 5:1-2, 28:4).
b.
The blessing of Jacob and Moses (Gen 49:8-12;
Deut 33:7).
c.
The love and filial piety of Judah
(Gen 37:26-27, 43:19, 44:18-34).
d.
The name Judah
means “praise” (Gen 29:35; Ps 68:24-27).
e.
Brave in exterminating enemies (Gen 49:8, 9;
Deut 33:7; Josh 15:14, 15).
4.
Othniel received the
upper springs and the nether springs (13-19).
a.
Caleb drove away Anakims
and occupied Hebron.
b.
Othniel conquered Kirjathsepher and married the daughter of Caleb Achsah.
c.
Achsah asked for a
land, the father gave her the upper springs as well as the nether springs.
(a)
*Believed in the promise of God. Conquered the
cities and received the best possession.
(b)
A land without springs could not yield
bountifully. The Lord promised to those who believe in Him the blessings of
upper springs as well as nether springs. Also the blessings of this life and
next life as well as the blessings of the heaven and of earth (1 Tim 4:8; Eph
4:39; Mt 6:25-33).
