NEWS NOTES
ECC
The Third National Church
Conference was held in San
FranciscoChurch
on December 22-25, 1978. Participants
from New York, Honolulu,
Los Angeles, and Toronto enjoyed the congenial and fruitful meeting.
Among the important proposals discussed meeting and resolved were the
following: establishment of a permanent and updated U.S. membership record
archives, publication of a Church periodical, and various tracts, sending two
workers of God to Nigeria, Africa, and amendment of the existing By-laws of the
Church.
During the Conference, Bro. Wen-kuang Lo was ordained as Deacon John Lo, Elder John Wu
officiating in the Name of the Lord.
Election of the new ECC Committee
members for a two-year term took place during the Conference. The elected members are: John Lin (ECC
Chairman) and Paul Wong for the Religious Affairs Department; Meishi Tsai (ECC Secretary) for the General Affairs
Department; Young Kuo for the Financial Affairs
Department. In addition, the ECC
Administration members have been appointed the following committee duties:

**Deacon John Yang and Deacon Mufu Tsai, two ministers from the International Assembly,
visited the U.S.
churches in the summer of 1979. Upon the
consultation with the local churches, ECC scheduled various family evangelical
services, spiritual convocations and students’ revival meetings for the two
workers of God:
June 7 – July 1, 1979: Honolulu and Maui
July 7 – July 22: Southern California
July 23 - August 5: Northern California
August 23 - August 30: New Jersey and New
York
August 31 - September 4: Toronto, Canada
**Deacon Paul Wong and.Deacon Meishi Tsai were sent to Cross
River State, Nigeria
for missionary works. During their visit
the power of the Holy Spirit worked there mightily as evidenced by manifold
power of God: healing, visions, and miracles among the Nigerians. The
“Church of Jesus Christ” accepted
the faith and more than three hundred souls were baptized into Christ on June
3, June 15, and June 23, 1979. Five
local churches of True Jesus Church were established at the Abak
District; Utu Abak, Ntobo, Ikot Ukoh,
Adiasim, and Afaha Esang. Praise to
God.
To continue the holy work and
buildup of the Church, Deacon John Yang and Deacon John Lo left for Nigeria on
September 6, 1979 for a proposed eight-week visit. They would train the local workers of God and
pray for the members in order that the brethren in Africa
receive the Holy Spirit and spiritual knowledge and power.
**Brother Imeh
John Akpan of Nigeria,
who came to the United States
for the summer of 1979, received the Holy Spirit at the San FranciscoChurch
on August 4. Thank God for this wonder
gift.
HAWAI I
**In September 1978 Deacon John Lo
was sent by ECC to begin his ministry in the Church
of Honolulu, after he had completed a
special theological study in the General Assembly of the True Jesus Church in Taiwan during
the summer of 1978.
**From November 22 to 25, 1978,
ECC sent Dn. Paul Wong and Meishi Tsai to help with
the annual spiritual convocation which was attended by forty or so members and
visitors. Thirty eight brothers and
sisters partook the Holy Communion and nine adults and
two children were baptized. Eight
members received the Holy Spirit. In the
meeting, two witnessed the glory of the Lord on the Cross. Two other persons saw the light engulfed
baptismal spot on the Manoa mountain creek near the University of Hawaii campus.
**The summer of 1979 was a blessed
season. From June 17 through 23 the
Youth's spiritual convocation was held at a secluded area of Haleakala (the House of the Sun). Deacon Mufu Tsai,
Deacon John Lo and Bro. Shyh-kuang Yang along with the ardent members from Honolulu and Maui
gathered together for the study of the words of God and prayers for the
blessing. On the first day, two saw the
vision of the Lord, and one received the Holy Spirit. The third day marked the beginning of the
showers of blessing for the entire program.
Six members received the Holy Spirit.
Many saw the glory of God and one saw the Lord present in the midst of
the prayer meeting. What's more
heartwarming, some members saw the light shining upon the baptismal spot at the
Pacific Ocean and two sisters witnessed at the
same time the scarlet color surrounding the baptist
who was baptizing the two new converts.
Hallelujah.
LOS ANGELES
**In Southern
California, the holy work has been blessed. From December 28, 1978 through January 1,
1979, one hundred or so members attended the annual spiritual convocation. Eighty- nine partook
the Holy Communion. Five were baptized,
including four young Korean boys who came to the Church for the first time but
received the Holy Spirit. Ten people
received the Holy Spirit and the prayers were filled with power. Two members of the congregation were healed
of their diseases.
**For a long time, Imeh John Akpan of the
"Church of Jesus Christ" of Nigeria,
Africa has heard about the True Jesus Church
and contacted the International Assembly.
Last year he came to the United States
to visit his son, fostered by an American family in northern California.
After a long night of discussion and search in the Bible with Deacon
Paul Wong , Akpan determined
to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
The baptism occurred on August 15, 1978 on the Kern River in Bakersfield, California.
**A Bible Seminar was conducted
from March 30 to April 1, 1979 in the church at El Monte.
Participants from New York, San Francisco, and Los
Angeles areas enthusiastically discussed Elder John
Wu's manuscript of "The Manifestation of God in Three Historical
Stages."
**The visit of Dn. John Yang and Mufu Tsai from I.A, was a blessing
to the members in Southern California. Both ministers visited and held family
services in various places: Cypress, Costa Mesa, West Los Angeles, CanogaPark, Glendale,
Alhambra, and Bakersfield.
Along with the local personnel, they helped the youth's spiritual
convocation located at Pinos summer camp near Frazier
Park.
**The Youth spiritual convocation
brought the young brothers and sisters to a higher spiritual level.
Two periods of Bible study, one
period of prayer in the morning were scheduled.
In the afternoon discussion and prayer were followed by outdoor
recreation and after supper break, an evening worship ensued. This daily program lasted from July 2 to July
7, 1979.
During the convocation, one brother saw a
vision of the white horse during his prayer, whereas another sister saw a white
throne and around it four living creatures.
Later on it was pointed out that these two visions had to do with the
eschatological signs recorded in the Book of Revelation. God blessed this meeting because seven
persons received the Holy Spirit and four saw the visions. What inspired the young brethren all the more
was their fervent, deep prayers during that week of
summer retreat.
**A special spiritual-evangelical
service extended from July 20 to July 22, 1979 occurred at the El MonteChurch.
After the hour long morning prayer, there were two sermons and one hour
prayer in the morning.
In the afternoon one period of
sermon and one period of testimonies were followed by one period of
prayer. The evening services were
devoted to the preaching of the gospel to friends on the salvation of Jesus and
His imminent Second Coming.
Ninety-nine received the Holy
Communion, three got the Holy Spirit, and seven saw the visions of the glory,
and other heavenly vistas. There were
eight new converts were baptized.

**An interdenominational Bible
seminar, cosponsored by the Evangelism-Coordination Council and the New YorkRegionalChurch, was held at the Church at Elizabeth, New

in addition to ten or so brothers and sisters from Newcastle

** The theme of the three-day
spiritual convocation from August 17-19, 1979 was: how to become more spiritual
in the wisdom of God and Christian life.
Such sermons as “Be gallant in the faith,” “Abraham had two sons” were
inspiring. At the conclusion of the
convocation ten new converts were baptized, six received the Holy Spirit, and
seven saw the visions. About one hundred
persons received the Holy Communion.
** On September 8, 1979 a baptism
was administered for three persons including one middle-aged man stricken with
lung cancer. The Lord has enabled him to
be discharged from hospital as a result of visitations and prayers.
SAN
FRANCISCO
**A special Bible study-spiritual
convocation took place at the San
FranciscoChurch
from July 30 to August 3, 1979. This
meeting was especially designed for the youths.
Dn. John Yang, Dn. Mufu Tsai, and Dn. John Lo were
the instructors for the following subjects: the basic beliefs of the True Jesus
Church, Bible geography, and exemplary youths in the Bible. Most of the time was devoted to prayers. The following shows how God blessed the prayers
immensely:
July 30: Brother Ken saw the glory
of the Lord and S.H. Choy, a visiting boy, saw the radiant Cross and the
agonizing Jesus bleeding from the nailed hands.
Sister Limin Lee saw a gate opening before
her. Sister Xiangxiao
Lei saw the light on the wall of the Church.
Sister Kim was healed of headache.
July 31: Sister Limin saw the vision of the open gate as she did the
previous day and felt that she was flying when powerfully filled by the Holy
Spirit. Another visiting girl was moved
by the Spirit and saw a white light.
August 1: Sister Jenny Lin felt
that she was flying into the high cloud, and saw the glory of God as she
ascended higher and higher. Sister Limin and Jenny Lin were clapping hands and singing a
spiritual song in unison. A visiting
Sherry saw a golden Cross and the Lord Jesus surrounded by rainbow standing in
front of her.
August 2: Sister Limin Lee felt that she was soaring into the sky and
grabbed Jesus' garment, pleading Him to bestow the Holy Spirit on those who
were praying very importunately. Sister
Dorothy Lin prayed with fasting at noon and saw a white light, as she was
singing a spiritual song.
August 3: The 12-year-old Lily Wen
received the Holy Spirit.
