POWER FROM ON HIGH
Power is strength. Power produces work.
There is physical power and there is spiritual
power. Physical power has its limitations. But the power has its limitations.
But the power from God is unlimited and beyond. Man is nothing before God (Heb
2:6; Is 40:15, 17).
As believers, in whatever things
we do we must rely on the power of God. Only then are we able to accomplish
them for we are weak (1 Cor ). But if we rely on the power from on high we shall
be strong (Heb ). David, a young
child without battle experience, was courageous enough to confront the giant
Philistine warrior because he trusted in the Lord. David said to the
Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin;
but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of
Israel, whom you have defiled” (1 Sam 17:45-54). Samson was a mighty warrior
blessed by God with great power. He was able to tear the lion asunder with his
two bare hands (Judg 14:6). When he fought the Philistines
he had a fresh jawbone of an ass. With this jawbone he killed one thousand
Philistines (Judg ).
David and Samson had such victories because they had the power from on high.
Therefore, let us pray earnestly
to God. When we have the power of the Holy Spirit, we shall be able to overcome
the evil one.
