Christians in the Community
One of the most difficult aspects
of Christianity is reconciling our life on earth with the fact that we are “not
of the world” (Jn 17:15). Because we have been
sanctified as God’s children, we no longer belong to the world. Yet we must
interact with the world every day.
We are a part of the neighborhood,
workplace, campus, city, country. It is not possible to ignore what is around
us—we must find a way to shine the light of Christ while we contribute to
society without being influenced by it.
The theme articles in this issue
remind us that opportunities to make a difference in the community around us
can be a chance to share our faith with others. They also encourage us on how
to maintain our faith while we live in the world. May God guide us as we strive
to follow His words.
