His Compassions Are
New Every Morning
"They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness." (Lam 3:23)
It makes me smile when I think of
God's faithfulness and His daily abidance. God is faithful and He keeps His
promises. Every morning is new. When we wake up in the morning to start a new
day, we can be sure that God is there for us. What a blessed thought!
It does not matter what we have
gone through the day before. We might have experienced affliction or even
depression. As we remember His faithfulness and loving kindness, we turn to God
for His mercy and help. This hope is an important turning point, leading us to
help, comfort, and strength from Him. Our faith grows through our own personal
experiences and encounters with Him.
“It is good for a man to bear the yoke in his
youth. Let him sit alone and keep silent, for the Lord has laid it on him.”
(Lam 3: 27, 28)
Suffering is good for us because
it teaches us to patiently wait on the Lord as the old saints did in the Bible.
His compassions are new every morning and we shall be lifted, if we hope and
turn to Him.
Our Lord Jesus Christ promised
that "He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and
he who believes in Me shall never thirst" (Jn
6:35).
" ‘If anyone
thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me,
as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’
But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would
receive.” (Jn 7:37-39)
To be filled with the Holy Spirit
is to fully submit to God’s Spirit and allow Him to guide our daily lives. We
will have faith and the power of God to resist sin and bear the fruits of the
Holy Spirit. That is the experience of the freshness of living water flowing
out of our hearts.
This living water is fresh everyday,
cleansing us of all filth. Our spirituality is thus renewed day by day—by the
compassions of God, for “they are new every morning.” Great is His
faithfulness!
Questions for reflection:
What are some troubles you feel recently?
Have you turned to God to seek the refreshment
of His mercies and the sweetness of the living water He promised to us?
