The Book of Jeremiah – Chapter 45 and 46

I.       Outline:

A.     Time:

The forth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah (45:1;46:2)

B.     Says the Lord:

1.        To Baruch (45:2-5)

2.        The word of the Lord against Egypt (46:1-12)

3.        Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon would come and strike the land of Egypt (46:13-26)

4.        Comfort and restoration promise to the Israel (46:27,28)

II.    What is the main subject?

1.       God would practice His authority.

2.        What I have built I will break down, and what I have planted I will pluck up. Do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them (45:4,5), (46:3,4,8,20,2123).

3.       In vain you will use many medicines (46:11).

III. Who are the main people?

Jeremiah, Baruh, Pharaoh and his army, Nebuchadnezzar and his army.

IV.  What is the key or main verse?

·         The day of the Lord God of hosts (46:10).

·         The day had come upon them (46:21).

V.     What is the central lesson?

Submit to God’s authority.

·         For this is the day of the Lord God of hosts (46:10)

·         For the Lord God of hosts has a sacrifice (46:10)

·         Because the Lord drove them away (46:15)

·         For the day of their calamity had come upon them (46:21)

VI.  What are the main promises? (46:27, 28)
