Return of the King
"In my Father's house are
many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a
place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and
will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also" (John 14:2,3).
These were the words of the Lord
Jesus Christ, who promised his followers that he will return one day to receive
them to the home in heaven. Our Lord, who once came to the world to be the
ransom for sin, is coming back a second time. He will return as the King of
kings, with great power and glory. Together with him will be thousands and
thousands of saints and heavenly hosts.
His coming will be a terrifying
sight for those who have rejected him as Lord. "Behold, he is coming with
the clouds, and every eye will see him, every one who pierced him; and all
tribes of the earth will wail on account of him" (Revelation 1:7). No one
may be able to escape the wrath of the Great King.
But the Lord's coming is a day
believers eagerly look forward to. The Savior will welcome them home, and
"he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more,
neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former
things have passed away." (Revelation 21:4). This day will bring about the
ultimate fulfillment of the Christian hope.
