What year was Jesus born?

According to the accepted consensus of historians, Jesus was born around 750 years after the traditional date for the founding of the Roman empire in 753 B.C. Our era is dated according to a Christian perspective, which begins from the year of our Lord (in Latin anno Domini). Christ’s supposed birth was A.D. 1, but due to a mistake in calculation by a Scythian monk from Rome, Christ was actually born around 4 B.C., or possibly earlier. The date of Christ’s birth is calculated according to {Matthew 2:1) and {Luke 1:5), which tells us Jesus was born when Herod the Great was still alive. Herod died in 4 B.C., which means Jesus was born in 4 B.C. or earlier.
