The gospel tells that God sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, into the world. Jesus was God Himself, but He was a “son?in the sense God became flesh. “Son of Man?emphasizes Jesus?humanity. Yet, Jesus was the Savior of His people. Jesus?salvation succeeds in five ways as a source of our salvation. The following has been done for us, and this is at the heart of Jesus?gospel: - Christ was born for us. “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord"(Lk 2:11).
- Christ died for us. “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures"(1 Cor 15:3; Rom 5:8).
- Christ resurrected for us. He was “was raised because of our justification"(Rom 4:25).
- Christ ascended into heaven for us. “I go to prepare a place for you" (Jn 14:2?).
- Christ will come again for us. He will “appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation" (Heb 9:28). These five points are basic Christian beliefs and are guiding principles out of which come all the derivatives of the gospel. However, don’t confuse this with a belief that these are the only things we need to know for salvation. The Bible is a big book with lots of things to learn about salvation.
