A Book that Works
God's word is more than a book to
read and enjoy. Behind the literary beauty of the text lie the powerful
promises of God. As we learn, meditate, and practice the teachings in the
Bible, God works wonders in our lives.
The Lord is faithful to all his
promises; his words never fail. Through the ages, believers have personally
experienced how God's word have come true in their
lives. They can testify that, indeed, "he who promised is faithful"
(Hebrews ).
The Lord said, "for as the rain
and the snow come down from heaven, and return not thither but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower
and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; it
shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and
prosper in the thing for which I sent it" (Isaiah 55:10,11).
The word of God turns the parched land in our hearts into fertile soil, making
our lives meaningful and fruitful.
