Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit in the body of a virgin named Mary (Mt 1:18, 25; Lk 1:34–35). Prophet Isaiah prophesied Jesus’ birth, and the circumstances of His birth, 700 years before the fact. The prophet, inspired by the Holy Spirit, said, “A virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel,†which means “God is with us†(Isa 7:14). Since Jesus was not born of Adam or the flesh, He did not have the “death†Adam and Eve brought to all human beings. Therefore, Jesus is holy and sinless.
