Jesus chose twelve disciples. They are: Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James, Thaddaeus, Simon and Judas (Mt 10:2). Besides the twelve, Jesus had 70 disciples who he sent out in pairs to various cities to preach. These disciples drove out demons, healed the sick, and preached the kingdom of God in all these cities (Lk 10:1). Besides that, Jesus probably had hundreds of other lesser known followers (cf. 1 Cor 15:6).
