Live by the Spirit
The fullness of the Holy Spirit is
a result of letting the Spirit rule in our hearts. "Walk by the Spirit,
and do not gratify the desires of the flesh" (Galatians ). Instead of giving our minds and bodies
to the control of sinful desires, we must always think and act according to the
Holy Spirit, who guides us to live a life pleasing to God.
"To set the mind on the flesh
is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace" (Romans
8:6). God gives spiritual life to those who submit to the Holy Spirit. In other
words, the Spirit-filled Christian overcomes sin and carries the beautiful
example of Christ wherever he goes so that people can see Christ through him.
Paul, being filled with the Holy
Spirit, was able to say, "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no
longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the
flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for
me" (Galatians 2:20).
