When David was at his wits’ end, he asked to be led to the Rock that is higher than him. It is all so easy to feel overwhelmed when troubles flood our days. Whether it is something requiring our action or things beyond our control, we often find ourselves troubled and weary, even harboring grievances. That’s why we need to turn to God, and move up to the Rock higher than all our troubles.

We are to live among the tares until the harvest at the end of the age, as Jesus instructed, “[L]est while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest” (Mt 13:29, 30a). But, as we live among tares, have we become assimilated with them? Do we still shine forth as the wheat that await the harvester’s coming?
