Jesus’ resurrection is at the heart of the gospel message—a crucial step in God’s redemption plan. God obviously plays a vital role in our salvation. So we should firmly follow the Bible’s instructions on the way to salvation (1 Cor 15:1–2). If Jesus never resurrected after he died, believing in him would essentially be worthless. How can you get eternal life from someone who can’t even overcome death himself? Had Jesus remained dead, we who die would perish with no hope for any life to come. So the Bible tells us Jesus’ followers would be the most pitiful of all people if Jesus never resurrected (1 Cor 15:17, 19). Resurrection doesn’t just mean we live a new life or change our bad ways, but on the last day our physical body will actually resurrect or be transformed into a spiritual body (1 Cor 15:51–53; Jn 6:40).
