Our Lord Jesus Christ, You did not say You would take us out of this world, Or take away its troubles. According to Your word, War, pestilence, and natural disasters will increase As the day of Your appearing approaches. Yet we beseech You, in our troubles, Favor us with Your tender mercies, Allow us to look upon Your face and gain peace. Grant our leaders the wisdom that comes from fear of You. Grant those who offer their lives in our service Aid in time of need, strength, and courage. If our hearts are separate from Yours, Lord, turn them again to You, That we may be found in You, That our feet may be found within Your temple’s gates, That in You, and You alone, May we find true and boundless life. “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.†(1 Timothy 2:1-4)
